CookStash Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 September 2026

CookStash is a Chrome extension that helps users extract, edit, save and export recipes. CookStash is designed to work locally and does not require an account.

Information processed

When a user clicks the CookStash extension on a webpage, CookStash processes recipe information visible on that active page. This may include the recipe title, description, image URL, ingredients, instructions, cooking time, servings, cuisine, category and source URL.

How information is used

This information is used only to provide the extension's recipe extraction, editing, local-library and export features.

Local storage

Saved recipes are stored locally on the user's device using Chrome's local extension storage. CookStash does not operate a remote recipe database and the developer cannot access the user's saved recipes.

Data transmission and sharing

CookStash does not transmit recipe information, browsing history or saved recipes to the developer or third parties. QR codes are generated locally inside the extension. CookStash does not sell user data and does not use data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or lending.

Permissions

Data retention and deletion

Recipes remain in local Chrome storage until the user deletes them in CookStash, clears the extension's data or uninstalls the extension. Downloaded files remain under the user's control and can be deleted through the operating system.

Security

CookStash follows the Chrome extension security model and uses Manifest V3. It does not execute remotely hosted code.

Children

CookStash is a general-purpose recipe utility and is not directed specifically at children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when CookStash's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
